» Preservation
Preservation includes protecting newly installed or restored stone through cleaning and sealing or an impregnating process. Depending on the situation and type of stone, a sealer (a topical coating) or an impregnator (a penetrating sealer, hydrophobic/oleophobic) is then applied after proper preparation (cleaning & protection of surrounding surfaces). Sometimes a color enhancer impregnator or coating can be applied to achieve a different result.
» Restoration
Restoration includes many approaches and this is where real experience comes into play. There are various methods and techniques that can be employed to save a customer money and achieve the desired results. This all depends on the circumstances and the surface being worked upon. Sometimes, great care is needed to protect all surrounding surfaces such as in highend homes or in wide open commercial spaces where people and property are involved. Vertical surfaces can present a unique challenge in any situation, and requires a slightly different approach in order to restore the surface being worked upon. All these factors need to be taken into consideration when bidding a job and comparing competing quotes. Call us for a free estimate or proceed to our contact section.
Restoration can include resurfacing through diamond sanding both wet and dry depending on the situation, but this is usually done through a wet process. Various types of diamond sanding discs and grits are involved in achieving the best results, as well as different material bonds in which the diamonds are set for each type of surface being worked upon. Restoration can also include leveling through diamond grinding first to achieve a level surface of an uneven install, then the resurfacing processes would be applied to achieve the desired results. Honing and Polishing can be the final part of these processes also.
Honing is a look in which an increasing number of customers seem to be installing or requesting. This provides a more matte or rugged look, generally requiring less maintenance. Honing can be achieved through using various types of pads along with mechanical or chemical-compound processes. Polishing is a look in which a stone is brought up to a specific or desired level of shine. This provides a more formal look to most stone, which can require more frequent maintenance. Polishing can be achieved through using various types of pads along with mechanical or chemical-compound processes. There are other surfaces that can be restored such as flamed, tumbled and antiqued, and these also have specific approaches in order to be properly restored.
Restoration can also include Stain Removal, Grout Cleaning and Staining, Pressure Washing, Repairing Chips & Cracks, Regrouting and sometimes, Resetting Pieces of Tile and Stone.
Restoration of Fire & Flood Damaged Surfaces can also present a unique challenge in which special processes and chemical-compounds are applied in order to Deep Clean the surfaces and Restore the Stone or Tile to its original state.
» Maintenance
Maintenance includes ongoing services to maintain the condition and appearance of your stone or other surfaces. These can include Deep Stone Cleaning, Rehoning, Periodic Polishing, Resealing and some Repairs.
Cleaning your stone surface regularly is important! Routine maintenance includes daily dust mopping or using a bare floor vaccuum with a soft bristle (non rotating) brush. Use only an approved cleaner or a PH Neutral Cleaner or PH Neutral Disinfectant Cleaner to clean your stone surfaces regularly. These can be found at Bedrosians Tile & Stone Shops or in any local Janitorial Supply Shop such as Waxie Sanitary Supply or such stores as Home Depot, Lowe's or Smart & Final. Mix only as directed on the bottle of the brand purchased. Each brand has a different concentrate level and can affect the desired results. Floors should only be mopped about once a week, unless for specific reasons they need to be done more often. When coosing a mop use only a cotton/rayon blend mop head, or micro fiber for best results.
